Reigniting Love for Food: My Journey at Leith's School of Food and Wine

Food has always played a significant role in my life. From managing my health challenges, like Crohn's disease, to helping clients with their nutrition journeys, my relationship with food has been complex. While pursuing my passion for nutritional therapy, I found myself in a place where food had become more of a science than a source of joy. I'd embarked on elimination diets, meticulously tracked macros, and, in the process, lost the joy that comes with cooking and savouring a delicious meal. It was then that I decided to rediscover the magic of food, and I found the perfect opportunity at Leith's School of Food and Wine.

A Culinary Adventure with Purpose

As someone who's navigated the labyrinth of dietary restrictions and food sensitivities, I was no stranger to the importance of mindful eating and the impact of food choices on health. However, I had reached a point where the joy and creativity of cooking had gone, buried beneath the stress of managing dietary restrictions.

Leith's School of Food and Wine became a turning point in my journey. The "Nutrition in Culinary Practice" course not only offered a comprehensive understanding of the nutritional aspects of food but also reignited my passion for cooking.

Rediscovering the Joy of Food

During my time at Leith's, I learned to celebrate the art of cooking while still making health-conscious choices. The course allowed me to embrace a broader spectrum of ingredients, techniques, and flavours. It was a beautiful reminder that food is not just about sustenance; it's about pleasure, connection, and nourishment, both physically and emotionally.

I found myself falling in love with food all over again and a reminder that nutrition isn't about restriction but about making informed choices that align with your body’s needs.

Passing on the Joy

Today, I get to share this joy with my clients. I understand the challenges of maintaining a balanced and nourishing diet while dealing with health issues. My journey at Leith's has given me the skills to create and share meals that are delicious and nourishing.

I aim to inspire my clients to enjoy food again, to find pleasure in cooking, and to embrace the journey of nourishing their bodies. It's not just about dietary plans and restrictions; it's about rekindling the love for food.

My time at Leith's has reconnected me with the magic of food, rekindled my love for cooking, and enriched my practice as a nutritional therapist. Now, I look forward to every meal not only as a source of sustenance but as an opportunity to celebrate the art of food and its power to heal and delight.
